I took a walk along Bued River to try my luck on early morning BIFs. This young bird was flying straight to my position, but it tried to bank away when it noticed me raising my shooting rig. The evasion tactic was a bit slower than the AF speed of the 7D II + 400 DO II. Asian Glossy Starling ( Aplonis panayensis) Shooting Info - Bued River, Rosario, La Union, Philippines, April 21, 2016, EOS 7D MII + EF 400 DO IS II, 400 mm, f/4.5, 1/2500 sec, ISO 320, manual exposure in available light, hand held, major crop resized to 1200 x 900.

Hehehe, excellent catch. Those birds fly really fast and it takes a lot of experience to capture them in flight. But of course, it's Ka Mastah! :-)

Thanks, Ka Bobby! Yup, other birds are easier to catch in flight, like water birds and raptors (these often do several passes and allow us more acquisition and tracking time). Starlings just fly straight and low, and the adult with its black plumage is even tougher to catch.
