There are 10 races of Philippine Hanging Parrot aka Colasisi. I really should document all the other races we encounter on our trips but I always get distracted by other birds. We went to Cagayan de Oro recently and I took my time to get some pictures of the Mindanao race, apicalis. PHILIPPINE HANGING PARROT aka COLASISILoriculus philippensis5dmk3, 500mm 1.4xtc, tripod

What a nice setting you have with all those little red flowers that blends well with the tail of the Colasisi. Well done Tonji & Mabuhay.

These are superb close-ups, Tonji. How close were you to the Colasisi?

Thanks Ramon. I can't remember how close I was but usually Colasisi seem to let you get close if they are feeding. Sylvia and I were just moving slowly as not to startle them because when one gets nervous he calls out and they all leave.

Hi Tonji, Here's a little push. You should document the Philippine parrots. Lala, soon to be Dr. Carmela Espanola, is finishing her doctoral paper on Philippine parrots in Manchester University, London. Your photos and her research paper will make a good book. telyds

Thanks guys. Wow I have so many of these pics, I have not looked at them all. Too many pics taken, not enough time to view and process (meaning " I am lazy")
These birds would eat the petals and would come back every day. Great photo ops for sure. If we did not have to check out the other areas of the park we would have spent even more time on these birds.

Haha, nice Colasisi Tonji. Where are the other pics from our trip? As I was confused between using my digiscoping rig and my slr, all i got was NYARP pics.
