Got this during my Halloween sortie up in the mountains. This bird was motionless for several minutes and I thought it was dead... Click on photo for exif data And I was blown off my feet when it resurrected! And drove all the way back to show you all what I got I'm hopping something is done right away to protect the remaining habitat stronghold of this species.

It's a handsome male RH. Great capture Neon. Where did you took the shot. Wonderful documentation of it's character playing dead or sunbathing in the wild.

Beautiful 2nd shot, Neon, with lots of details! How close were you, and which mountains?
Good record of very interesting behavior.

Picture perfect. In your exif it says 56.7, I presume it is meters. For that distance these pictures are superb. If Costa Rica have their Toucans, the Philippines have their Hornbills. Super nice shot especially this full bodied one: www.flickr.com/photos/neon2rosell/8145035807/Well done Neon & Mabuhay.

Thanks Doc Boy! How do you differentiate Male from female? here's a long shot, now which one is male? Got the shot from the Siera Madre range. Thanks Ramon and Ely, Yes, distance in meters. The only thing missing from the exif data is the 2x Kenko TC, it AF but doesn't register. Got the shot from the Siera Madre range. And yes, like humans, it has to sunbathe its front too, for evenness. :-) And to top all the captures is the full body shot. :-) Cheers!

Since birds don't wear clothes, they can't wear Halloween costumes, so I guess this is what they do for Holloween instead
