Pardon the late post. My wife and I visited Puerto Princesa for the first time last June 25-28. It had been raining on and off so we were not able to go to the usual birding places here. Therefore we missed some of our target birds. Nevertheless we still got three lifers (but we got good photos of only one of those). Here are some of our captures from that trip: Olive-backed Sunbird (aurorae subspecies) 5DMkII, 300mm+1.4X, ISO-400, 1/250, f5.6 handheld Rufous-tailed Tailorbird ISO-2000, 1/400, f7.1 Immature White-vented Shama ISO-800, 1/400, f6.3 Black-headed Bulbul (lifer!) ISO-3200, 1/1000 f7.1 Immature Watercock ISO-2500, 1/1250, f5.6 Brown-throated Sunbird (aka Plain-throated Sunbird) ISO-2000, 1/400, f7.1 Thanks for viewing.

It is always difficulty to find good birds when it is raining but some of the birds that you captured are good ones. Well done Bob & Mabuhay.

Bob and Cynthz, Just imagine if it was a good day of sunshine in Puerto Princesa. So with this bountiful harvest on a rainy day, you surely will keep going back to Palawan. By doing what you love twogether, it is always panalo. God is good :)lyd

Hope I can go back to Palawan again. It seems like whenever people go there to bird, they end up with lots of wonderful captures just like this set. Happy that you were able to take a lot of beautiful photos in spite of the uncooperative weather.

Thanks, Tina.
Let's go back! It was easy birding when we were there - either from the car or just around the neighborhood of the hotel we were staying in (Palo Alto Bed & Breakfast).

Thanks, DocBoy.
Really? The OBS and WVS would be lifers for you? My picture of the Shama is that of an immature. The adult is just black and white.

Nice haul Bob! Love the Tailorbird and the Watercock best! The birds showed their best poses during your sortie. Would love to see more if you have 'em. Happy for your buddy!

Thanks, Martin! Unfortunately these were all we've got that were good enough to post. Rainy weather prevented us from getting more.

Thanks, Mark! That tailorbird was just pure luck. I was standing on the upper deck of the hotel and it just popped into view down below.
