Excellent photos Ely !!! I would have to agree with Ramon and Mela, this IS the BEST series of photos I have seen of the IBKF of Villa Escudero. Mabuhey :-) <--- Sorry couldn't resist ;-) Thank you Tina. You should try it sometime as you can sit down by the edge of the fall and wait for the bird to come hunting for their fish. No long distance walking and carrying of our heavy gear. It is your favorite type of birding. Mabuhay Tina.

Thanks for sharing these great captures. Regards, Edwin Thank you Edwin. You can make it a family outing. They have a museum there with the collection of Ado Escudero that is quite extensive. I think there are thousands of different items. Than there is a buffet lunch with water running underneath your feet. Afterward there is a cultural dance performed by the staff of Villa Escudero. It is very entertaining.

Thank you Tonji. The settings of the habitat has been revised making it more accommodating to the IBKF to be out in the open. Mela certainly did a good job. However since the river is covered by the forest to the left and to the right, it is still under the canopy. I guess this is where your 5D Mark III can do a good job with high ISO settings.

Great pictures of the IBKF sir! one of my favorite Really missed going out in the field, especially this place. Thank you Denise. Try to visit Villa Escudero soon while the birds are still active. I saw some Malaysians and Singaporeans who had to fly in. No need for you to fly, you can go by car. LOL.

Great set of images and wonderful storytelling, Ely! Excellent! Thank you Mark. The Indigo-banded Kingfisher's presence gave me a story to tell. What a beautiful pair of birds. Mela has certainly done a good renovation at the waterfall.

I saw Mela last Saturday at the General Assembly of the WBCP, and she was telling me that it is not often that one can see a mature Indigo-banded Kingfisher with feathers on its chest designed like a heart. This reminds me of an old but still nice to listen song called "With A Song In My Heart". I looked at my file pictures and saw how majestic this male looks standing by the rock as if he could express himself with that song. 1/50 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600

Excellent series, Ely!
May I have your permission to reproduce portions of this (and some photos) for the next issue of the e-Bon (coming out in September)?
We want to showcase Villa Escudero from a bird photographer's point of view especially how they redesigned the river flow to make it a better hunting place for the IBKs.
Thanks!
