The raptor is perched on the Blue Javanica which is so close to the house. It is also where the Silvery Blue Kingfisher makes its appearance with the friendly GS Flycatcher. It would be good to fly in early, spend at least 2 nights, fly out on the last flight. Three nights would be better. The place is beautiful, the accomodations, the best! Food is good, too! Go guys! Thanks for helping promote the place! Hope to see back here soon!

Another name that is being used (and which is much clearer) is Steere's Honey Buzzard. By the way, the birds of Luzon look different and are of a different subspecies, ssp winkleri.

I think these are the first good pics of a perched juvenile Barred Honey Buzzard ssp steerei that some are calling Philippine Honey Buzzard. Very nice! To be redundant, yes, I agree with your assessment.

Nice photo for ID, I think its a juvenile Barred Honey Buzzard. I remember when i was still working with DENR in 2004 we confiscated a juvenile buzzard same as this raptor.
