Wow, what a fulfilling vacation in your wife's hometown. Lovely pair. I am biased towards the female... the color is subdued but beautiful as well. It has a gentler color. The color of the male is just too loud for me... mayabang! (like some bird photographers...ho, ho, ho... joke, joke). lyd Thank you Lyds. I was surprised to see how lovely the female Crimson Sunbird was compared to say the female Olive-backed Sunbird. I guess the male whose feathers are so bright and look so good makes him look mayabang to you because he makes you jealous of him. Heh heh heh. Live and let live. Cheers & Mabuhay.

These sunbirds have some physical similarities with the honeycreepers of the Americas. Tons of details on the pictures. Kinds of pictures we always wish to have every trip.

I guess that is what we bird photographers have in common. To be able to take pictures of the bird with as much details as possible. Althought we cant't do it all the time, at the the times that we are able to do it, gives us a special joy for the day.

I can understand that because I know how much you like Kingfishers. Please wait for my next thread on the White-throated Kingfishers. I was able to get closer shots of the WTKF.

Wow, just wow. Sir Ely, you never cease to amaze me. I know the title is of the Crimson sunbird, but that photo of the pair of White throateds is my favorite in terms of composition and difficulty. We all know getting a single bird properly in a frame is hard enough, but here you have two. BRAVO!

We try our best and let God do the rest. A second visit to Mambukal gave me a chance to take a closer shot of the White-throated Kingfisher. Have started processing the pictures. Watch for it.

Thank you very much Mark for your generous appreciation. By the way it may be of interest for you to know that I had my camera & lens recalibrated after this trip. There were some adjustments made and it focuses faster now than before. I owe it to you for showing me what you thought was something wrong with my pictures that led me to double check the issues at hand. Glad to have been able to help. Great to hear your gear is back to its prime condition.

Still in the process of selecting the good ones.
