Marvelous capture Pogito. WOWWWWWWWW an ENDEMIC Photo lifer $$$$ HehEHehEHehhEe ;D ;D ;D Congratulations !!! Imagine having a photo of an indigo banded kingfisher already when most of the bird photographers here don't even have that bird yet - Wooooooooo Hooooooooooooo !!!!! We had fun being with you guys. Specially seeing you shoot for the first time - Looks like you will put to shame most of our photos in a few months time. Keep it up and before you know it - you will own Romy's favorite camera and lens Soooo, were you able to make a deal with your dad regarding BIFs ? Hope you got a good deal ;D

Hehe.... the nestling is on the clouds when I told him there's probably less than 20 people in the world who have captured this species in habitat. ;D It was a blast birding Tiaong with Carmela, Tina and Wency. Doc Chito arrived after I left (I had to go ahead so I can set up the LCD projector at the Earth Day program). Here's the Sigmonster Tamer's version, among my first detailed photos of the female IBKF (all my previous ones were male). 40D + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 700 mm, f/5.6, ISO 400, 1/8 sec, manual exposure in available light, 475B/3421 support:

Wow. How ironic that an IBK was responsible for getting the father started and now it's the first endemic photo-lifer for the son. Sorry Romy but that shot by Pogito is a lot better than your first photo of the IBK. ;D Iwanan mo na si Pogito dito.

Wow! A Father and Son Masterpiece! Beautiful! Thanks, Martin, Tina, JP, Mark and Ed! Wow. How ironic that an IBK was responsible for getting the father started and now it's the first endemic photo-lifer for the son. Sorry Romy but that shot by Pogito is a lot better than your first photo of the IBK. ;D Iwanan mo na si Pogito dito. Haha.... I didn't realize that until you mentioned it Carmela. Here's another capture of the female IBKF while it's poised to dive for prey.... it held this position long enough for me to squeeze a shot at 1/6 sec. ;D 40D + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 700 mm, f/7.1, ISO 400, 1/6 sec, manual exposure in available light, 475B/3421 support:

Here's a 39-sec video clip of the IBKF being captured with slow shutter speed via Live View of the 40D. ;D

Maybe it was the time when I saw Pogito's pictures of the IBKF and then I told him, let's exchange CF cards so that I will end up having excellent captures too ;D ;D ;D Nahhhhh that wasn't it ;D ;D ;D

Thanks, Bindi and everybody. Tina, where are your IBKF captures??? And Chito's too? ;D I'm rationing mine, processing only a couple a day so the hoard will last till the next sortie, hehehe. Here's my last IBKF for today - the crab would lose all its extremities (and senses too I suppose ;D) shortly after this photo was snapped. The bird repeatedly banged the crustacean against the hard surface of the log to get rid of the legs and claws and perhaps to soften the hard shell before it swallows the prey. 40D + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 700 mm, f/5.6, ISO 800, 1/160 sec, manual exposure in available light, 475B/3421 support:
