One of the more colorful woodpeckers in Costa Rica, this Black-cheeked woodpecker has some similarities with that of the Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker 7D, 400mm f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/100s f/7.1, ISO 1600, 1/100s

Very colorful indeed. I noticed that it also likes to eat papaya and banana. Ramon has placed some bananas on the trees near his viewing deck. Hopefully it will attract and feed the birds in BK. Were this taken at the author's bird sanctuary? Very nice Ariel. Well done & Mabuhay.

Very nice, Ariel. I'm surprised this woodpecker is eating fruit.

I wonder if it is also attracted by the flies/insects
