Happy Halloween everyone, Chanced upon this bird on top of a rock along the shores of Abra de Ilog. I hope the image is good enough for ID. Thanks.. .

The look and pose and location indicate a Blue Rock-Thrush (Monticola solitarius) female or immature. Let's see what the experts say.

How is the birding in and near Abra de Ilog? Quite good actually. Most of my lifers were taken there, like the Mangrove Blue-flycatcher, Black-naped Monarch, Elegant Tit, Philippine Cuckoo Dove, White-eared Brown Dove, Oriental Magpie Robin, Black-naped Oriole, Female Chinese Goshawk. The Large-billed Crow, White Collared Kingfisher, Low land White Eye, and of course the Philippine Bulbul are residents in the area. I am hoping to capture in my lens the Luzon Water-redstart and the Mindoro Hornbill.. .

Wow, I've got to go back to Abra de Ilog again. I went there several years ago by Ro-Ro ferry from Batangas City for a road trip to Mamburao and San Jose, and I didn't stay long in Abra de Ilog.
