Sylvia and I just got back from a one week birding trip which included four days and three nights in Tubbataha Reef and a few days in Palawan. The two islets in Tubbataha are off limits to all people year round because of the birds that live in the islets. However once a year TMO (Tubbataha Management Office) and WWF do a survey to count the birds. In some years they ring the birds to hopefully get more data on the possible migration patterns. This year we were lucky enough to have been invited by WWF to join the survey team. Our task was to take photos and to find out if it would be possible to have a bird watching/ photography tour without disturbing the birds. We would like to share some of our photos in the forum. Between the two of us we took around 10,000 photos. And some videos. Here is the first bird the Brown Booby. Canon 5Dmk2, 24-70, 1/1250, f7.1, ISO500, Manual exposure Canon 7D, 500mm, 1/1250, f7.1, ISO320, Manual exposure, tripod Canon 7D, 500mm, 1/400, f7.1, ISO 250, Manual exposure, tripod Canon 5dmk2, 300mm f2.8, 1/1600, f6.3, ISO 160 Manual Exposure, tripod Canon 5dmk2, 300mm f2.8, 1/1600, f5.6, ISO 160 Manual Exposure, tripod Canon 5Dmk2, 70-300L, 1/2500, f7.1, ISO 500 Manual Exposure

A bird photographers dream to be so near the birds and friendly to boot. I have been there in the early 80's and I still have the pictures that I took with my point and shoot. Now that I have something better in terms of equipment it would be nice to go back. Well done Tonji & Mabuhay.

Thank you Tonji and Sylvia. Tubataha, with the location and the way it is off limits might only be just a dream for many of us. Thank you for sharing the experience!
