Just to share to other birdnuts who are considering building a new system using Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture (32nm). Intel discovered a design flaw in the Sandy Bridge chipset that may cause issues with SATA2 ports and connected devices.
The issue is documented in the links below. A quick search will also yield many results.
I got myself a Core i5-2500K processor and an Intel DH67BL board last Feb 2. Intel released the news Jan 31. Too bad I didn't make final online checks (after Jan 31) before committing purchase. Although so far, I've had no issues with my machine (and I'm using only the SATA3 ports at present). I reported the issue to PCX and they told me they are waiting for Intel's advice on the recall.
