Really, now. They look as tasty as Samarals.
Broiled, with a dip of crushed garlic in vinegar and soy sauce, then chase it with some little brown bottles!

Symphysodon - regardless of how they are cooked, taste like c**p!. Including these aequifasciatus. Now, if you want to raise fish that are pretty small, prolific, and fantastic eating - I recommend Lepomis macrochirus but, be sure to eat them all and not dump them somewhere - they would just take over the place...

Ok. We gotta quit now. Neon has become silent. The fish must be his beloved pets and here we are talking gourmet.
Now, Lepomis macrochirus, Steve, I think that's the fish we call Tilapia in the Philippines. My grandmother told me (and don't know if it's true) that the Japanese brought this fish to the Philippines during WWII. Now, it'ss one of the most farmed fish and is sometimes considered a pest by milfish farmers.

Hi Ding, No, your Tilapia is Oreochromis niloticus (a tilapine cichlid). Lepomis is a Perciformes (family Centrarchidae) - a so-called fresh-water Sunfish.

My bad. (I like saying that...makes me think I'm cool)
Just googled your scientific name then when I saw the photo, concluded it was St. Peter's Fish. But after reading the wikipedia entry, realized my mistake.
My bad.
Cool dude!

He he he..Ding, I was able to get out of the house today!! Woohoo!!! And shot some birds again!! The fish will have to wait another day . And just to clarify, the Tilapia is from Africa and not Japan. Sir Steve, Thanks for the clarifications. Tina and JP, I have about 10 breeding pairs, but I don't breed them all, no more space, if you want I can give you a pair for you to take care. This fish has an amazing behavior as it is the only fish, I think, that nurses its fries. The fries eat from the mucus on the parents skin, if you take the parents away they will die. Will show you some pics when the eggs hatch. Sorry, Master Romy and Bobby, according to Sir Steve no mater how we cook this fish it taste like c**p!! woohoo, Thanks Sir Steve for saving the day!!
