i got this cooperative but extremely active fellow in full frame. i seem to be getting enough details on the body but am not too happy with the sharpness and details of the face (where it matters). spot metering and non continuous servo. any suggestions? Gabs, the face looks sharp to me at this posted size. If it's soft at 100% view, it's probably a combination of slowish shutter speed and imperfect focus. For walking birds, I'd recommend a shutter speed fast enough to freeze motion (say 1/640 sec or faster), plus AI servo.
For my taste, the WB is a bit on the warm side as posted.

thank you very much romy! bob also commented on facebook that the picture was on the warm side. here it is with a colder WB. from the exif data, i see my speed is rather low for walking birds. i will keep that in mind. thanks again. DSC_8091 by gabsbuluran, on Flickr

Though I prefer the WB of the new version over the first one, perhaps you have over-corrected. I'd warm it up a notch.
