BK Valley was beautiful even with the wind and rain but we were there for the butterflies. We cut short our trip and decided to go the opposite direction, Subic! Oh, a hidden path with good vegetation were teeming with caterpillars and butterflies. We were just in 1 spot the whole day. Here's a favorite thumbnail size butterfly, Arophala, a Lycaenid, an endemic. The beautiful iridescent color of this butterfly's upper wing can only be seen when in flight. But I was so blessed to have my camera focused on it when the sun spotlighted it and it opened its wings. Sharing a rare wonderful capture- 1/30 available light, monopod, ISO400 Available light, monopod, 1/250 ISO 250

Nice to see you enjoying your first love, the butterflies. I have never seen them before until now and probably never will since I don't look for them when looking for birds. LOL Well done Lyds. Mabuhay.
