Having just read the Compose thread started by Don. I tend to agree on some of the comments and suggestions posted by the other members. This forum has been so polite and kind to every photo posted here that you would rarely see a remark or comment on the improvement of a photo. I suggest that we create a new board/sub-board where you can post photos and expect not the usual praises and ooohhss and aaahhhs but constructive comments and criticisms instead. I placed emphasis on the word constructive because we surely don't want any rude comments or bashing of anyone's photos. The comments should be polite like "I suggest you increase the contrast", "The photo looks too grainy", "I personally think the background is too distracting", "The highlights are blown", etc. If it is also possible, the commenter is encouraged to suggest on what to do to improve the photos. We should also be aware that any of the comments and suggestions are all personal opinions and preferences and it is up to the original poster to accept them or not. If nobody comments on your photo, then it must be good enough that no one can find anything wrong with it. Just my suggestion. ;D

Good one - and let's keep the critique threads viewable for members only. That way, more shy photographers won't need to worry if the whole world is watching his/her photo being critiqued. This is not for egos' sakes, but rather for a more moderatable and controllable collegial forum.

I don't think a new board is needed since you can ask on your thread whether you want some C&C. If the poster didn't ask for it then we just have to admire it or just ignore it if it doesn't merit your attention. This is why Ka Mastah, since he's the owner of this forum, has a critique corner to control this sort of unwanted chatter.

Though I want a feedback mechanism in the forum so we know how our shots fare, I believe creating a new board will be of little help. It might also open a pandoras box that we all dont want. For criticisms to be objective, I guess there has to have some semblance of control. I like Ka mastah C&C board where he is the only one does the work of criticizing a photo. I like the process coz Romy is being recognized already as our top bird photog, not only in the country but internationally as well. He is the most credible to do the work of criticizing. If there is too much democracy, we might end up in chaos. We just cannot allow everybody to comment on anyone's work. Am not sure if that is the way to improve our photography. But I am sure we all end up bashing one another. I am sure Neon or anyone else doesn't want to hear a comment from me that I dont like one of his/her photo simply becuase I have not built my own credibility. Before anyone does his critical review of one's work, he must be first credible. I can't submit to a critic whom i frequently see botching his shots every now and thenle. Credibility is very important. I am not saying that no one other than Romy is credible to do the critiquing, but Romy is everyone's credible candidate. If I may suggest, and not to overload Ka Mastah, instead of each of us doing the critical review, we perhaps just stop praising every photo that is posted. As Neon said, ignore the photos that dont merit our attention and let the photographer wonder what is wrong. If he can't figure out the problems, he she can seek critical review from Ka Mastah's C&C board. Or he/she may want to PM a birdnut of his preference to possibly do the review. This way we can continue the harmony and still have avenues for seeking constructive criticisms from a very credible bird photographer.
