Hi gang,
The moon is 100% full tonight, and from how the skies look here in Paranaque, seeing conditions are great. Bring out your birding lenses/tripods/remote switches and let's have a moon party!
Suggested combos:
400 5.6L + 2x TC 100-400 + 2x TC 300 f4 IS + 2x TC Bigma + 2x TC 80-400 VR + 2x TC 200-400 VR + 2x TC
Try to shoot when the moon is between 9 -11 o'clock position to minimize atmospheric disturbance (12 o'clock is best, but shooting vertically might not be possible with most tripods/heads).
Recommended exposure - start with a Moony 11 * (f/11, 1/ISO shutter speed), check histogram and if ok, proceed to get dozens of shots in RAW/NEF. Each shot is individually MFed, use a remote switch and MLU/Live View.
*For a 400 5.6L + 2x, I'd recommend to start with f/14, ISO 200, 1/125 sec.
Upon uploading to your computer, select the 3 or 5 largest files - those are the sharpest shots (assuming that your Tv, Av and ISO are constant), discard the rest.

I saw Romy's invite for a "full moon party" after getting home from a dinner. And decided to take a few shots. I just saw Romy's full size post and the amount of detail is, pardon the pun, stellar! Here are 3 of my captures with various settings. Compared to what I shot yesterday, I used the 1.7x TC with the 200-400, giving me 650mm. Better IQ compared to the 2x TC. ISO 400, f14, 1/400, 650mm, RAW, Manual Exposure ISO 400, f16, 1/250, 650mm, RAW, Manual Exposure ISO 400, f11, 1/400, 650mm, RAW, Manual Exposure

Superbly captured, TJ..... looks like f/14 is the sweet spot of this particular combo.

Hehehe..... who needs a USD 12K 800 IS if you can have 840 mm IS at a fraction of the cost and weight? Nice moon, Neon!
