Excellent captures here! Sounds like an exciting trip that we all need to replicate. Show folks that loving wildlife and preserving the habitat can bring value in terms of ecotourism.

Doc Boy P.M. me of your visit but we were out in the field at that time. Hope you had a good birding with our friends there at the sanctuary.

Hey, guy! Let's take a break in the bombardment of bird pics, and have a look at the bombers themselves. Thru my lenses: Here's Canon Ambassador Ely Teehankee: At the Bislig Airport, first day in Bislig. Along the road towards Tinuy-an Falls, last day of birding. Here's Dr. Clemn "Boy" Macasiano and the Ambassador: They are discussing their Canon EOS 1D Mark IVs, same bodies, different settings! The Ambassador tries the instrument of the Dentist. Here's Nilo Arribas looking at where the Ambassador and the Dentist are pointing at.

Here's Rey Sta. Ana, also known as Apache Rey... also known as Mantarey! Apache Rey never brought a tripod, nor a monopod... He always brings his gear and holds it high up just as easy as he lifts a bow and shoots an arrow! That's a 500mm lens, it's a bazooka in all its right, and heavy too! The indian and the scout, our bird guide Zardo Goring, former forest guard of PICOP and protege of Tim Fisher, one of the authors of the Field Guide to the Birds of the Philippines. Here's Nilo Arribas of Cebu. He's also from the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, a former officer and member of the Execom and the Records Committee the club. And of course, our host, the Vice Mayor of Bislig City - Conrad Castillo Cejoco. He's working to make Bislig the Avian City of the South and to take over the former PICOP area into a bird sanctuary. Over the waters of Tinuy-an falls, there sit the Vice Mayor, the Dentist and the Apache, enjoying the last minutes of stay in Bislig City.

I though we would find it hard to post our pictures within a stretch of one week period, but it looks like two weeks of posting is not even enough to post all the pictures. ;D I believe there are still pictures of still unidentified birds that will keep our internal ornitologists (even external ones) busy for a while. The best ones are yet to come! ;D ;D ;D ... errr, have we already posted the best ones? There is no connivance here, Toto, nor is there a conspiracy! ;D There is, however, what you can call a real TEAM WORK at WORK! ;D I'm not sure about Rey... but in my case, going through the review process of over 50GB of photos is certainly not an easy task ;D ;D Hope to complete this within the week Thanks for checking the postings Toto. Same case with me Nilo. I'm actually having a hard time trying to keep up with the scheduled postings. Heaving headaches already looking at my monitor for hours on end.

@nilo Wow great catch, you got the Blue Fantail too. Saw this in the understory too but wasn't able to fire a single shot, it flew away before I was able to focus. Congrats on the beautiful captures of the Short Crested Monarch and the RFP too. It's good you got them in different poses and angles too. @alain Very good documentation of the Bislig Team Alain. Brings back a lot of good birdy memories.

So I guess it's time for the Sunbirds now, just finished a few last night. There were so many of these birds in Bislig and they come in flocks too. There was a place where they were present most of the day. Here's a few of my captures. Metallic-winged Sunbird (Aethopyga pulcherrima), PICOP Bislig City, 8/29/2010 7D + EF500, f5.6, 1/200, ISO 800, Manual Exposure, Handheld

I got this bird too, sadly without the head, or to put it more accurately, just half of the head! Happy for you for nailing it, Rey! Happy for everybody to see this Monarch! ;D This is one of the primary targets. We were hoping to get the Celestial Monarch but it didn't showed up, fortunately its cousin showed up to take its place. Excellent, Rey! Bravo! This is just super! It looks like it's the superstar of them all! This is one of my favorite catch in Bislig. The color of this bird is just so stunning, I think it's the only bird that has this color in that place. It has become one of our favorite targets and would always look for the "orange bird" when the mixed feeding flocks come by. Rufous Paradise-flycatcher (Terpsiphone cinnamomea), PICOP Bislig City, 8/28/2010 EOS7D + EF500, f5.6, 1/400, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Handheld

Although it's categorized as Uncommon, these endemic flowerpeckers are quite abundant in the Bislig forest giving us lots of opportunities to photograph them. Olive-backed Flowerpecker (Prionochilus olivaceus), PICOP, Bislig City 7D + EF500, f6.3, 1/320, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Handheld
