All, I've been studying up on birding spots in Negros Occidental and found an interesting mangrove forest project that was recently restored by companies like AMD, Dell, and others. As a Floridian, I always equated mangroves = fish and where there's fish, there's birds. The location? Silay, Philippines near Bacolod. I've been to the area twice and have found an abundant amount of wildlife, including some birds that I've never seen in Negros. Javan Pond Heron (Ardeola speciosa) This is going to be a consistent spot I'll be visiting. More details and directions on how to get there: www.donsausa.com/2010/07/my-sabbath-expedition-balaring-silay.html

Hi Don Im from Bacolod too and from time to time visit Balaring for their famous floating seafood restaurant, where is this location from the resto? I know the road still continues after the chain of restos is that the place?

But on the right behind the trees are fish ponds -- and this is where they are feeding.

Thanks Don, That's where most cars takes the turn back to the resto's right? might be checking that place not for their famous seafood but to shoot birds I been that place to catch the famous sunset too, Silay is a haven for landscapers and light chasers Thanks Don.
