Hi. A number of you know me, at least by name, already. I've been living in the Philippines for 17 years (I'm British), mostly in Davao and Davao del Norte, but for the past 2 years in Camiguin. I'm just a casual photographer when I have the time, rather than putting every ounce of my effort into it, but I am pleased when I get a decent picture, particularly of birds. My camera is a 18x optical zoom Panasonic. I have been very pleased with it overall, though there are still aspects of it that I have yet to learn (which is partly why I've joined this group).
I tried to post a thread this morning, but could not work out how you guys put pictures into the text of your posts. Can someone let me know how it's done?
Thanks Brian Powell

Hi Brian, Welcome to the board. Below are the answers to your questions: 1. The photos posted here are hosted in various website/galleries of individual members/photographers. 2. In order to post the images, we should use the full link of a photo and enclose it in a tag " [ IMG ]" and " [ /IMG ]", no spaces. 3. Example: This is a complete URL to an image I uploaded in my gallery in flickr. farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/3017395994_ac1549d609.jpgYou can embed this URL within the tags in #2 [ IMG ]farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/3017395994_ac1549d609.jpg[ /IMG ], (reminder=no spaces) The result is:

Hi Brian, I'm glad you're in this forum, too. By the way, there is a thread for butterflies, but I'd, of course, prefer them posted in paroparozzi yahoo groups. I have a Panasonic like yours. It is a great camera. Welcome! Lyd

Welcome Brian! 5 of us are going to Camiguin for bird photography on the 23rd, so it's nice to hear that someone with a similar hobby lives there too! Maybe we can meet up, and you can help us out in locating the prime birding spots in the area. :-)
I think Nilo has answered your question well, so I hope to see some of your bird photos in this forum soon.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
Thanks for the info, Nilo about posting. I will try to post something with a picture soon.
Hi Bobby, it would be great to meet up with you when you come here, and I can try to point you in the right direction for some of the good birds. Whereabouts will you be staying in Camiguin?

We'll check into a hotel there - but we don't have any idea yet as to which one.We will be taking the boat from Cebu on Friday, the 23rd, and we should be there on the morning of the 24th. We will find a place, then bird. Sunday, we will bird the whole day, then board the ship bound for Cebu in the evening. That's our plan. Seems tight, but that's what we have agreed on for now. :-)
