Hello everyone! I am Lui Co from Cebu City. My recent interest in bird photography has grown stronger after I discovered the PBPF forum. I enjoyed visiting this site even before I had the courage to register here. I have learned a lot from the topics discussed and shared in this forum. In fact, it has helped me in the acquisition of my gears as I planned to seriously pursue this hobby. Lately, I came in contact with Mr. Nilo Arribas Jr and got a copy of his book - Birds of Cebu and Bohol. I know I will need this material in my search for the birds within the locality. Since I'm still inexperienced in the actual setting of bird photography, I believe that joining this forum will enhance my knowledge and skills from the advise of the expert members of PBPF.

Welcome aboard, Lui! We have quite a few active birdnuts in Cebu - Nilo A., Bobby K., Tateo O. Boy and Marester, Raul P, etc. You're in danger of getting avian flu too when you meet them. But I can assure you that you'll have tons of fun in their company.

Welcome aboard, Lui!. The Cebu birdnuts (all certified) are among the best bird photographer members of PBP. You are in great company!
And FYI, they shoot butterflies, too, when there are no predators in sight, and they posit it in this forum as well under "Other Images".
Hope to see your posts soon. telyds

Welcome to the forum Doc Luico.
We should schedule an EB shoot soon here in Cebu.
As mentioned to you in our meeting, the slow birding months actually provides a good opportunity to shoot butterflies. They are often in the same habitat.
Ate Lyds is a good resource person on butterflies.
Can't wait to see your photos.

Hi Sir Nilo. Thank you for the tip on butterflies. I wonder if a telephoto lens would be a good lens for shooting butterflies... I'm afraid that dust might enter the camera when I keep on changing to a macro lens. Any good advice?

Welcome to the forum Lui. Having new members in the forum always makes us happy because it means there's another person interested in photographing our fine feathered friends which hopefully means another individual who will appreciate and protect them too. Enjoy and keep on shooting ... with your camera of course

Your lens is more than enough for most butterflies Doc Luico. We can set a photo meet next week when Doc Boy and the rest of the gang are here in Cebu...
