hi!
i'm fred serrano, new member. i work for the department of agriculture in quezon city but fortunately reside in the makiling area, specifically at the university of the philippines at los banos. i have just recently started doing bird photography and i look forward to learning a lot from, and hopefully contributing too to, this group. except for this forum, i am currently unaffiliated and i look forward to making the time to formally join. i do birding only on weekends, mainly in my base - makiling. i have also visited, on a yearly basis, candaba, olango, alcoy, the lanao lake area and mt. arayat, among others. my equipment consists of e3 and e620 bodies, sigma 50-500mm, zuiko 50-200mm swd, zuiko 70-300mm, zuiko tc14 and tc20 and a chinese tripod with ball head.
you may wish to mail me if you happen to plan a trip to the makiling area.

hey guys!
thanks for the very warm welcome! jun o, i very much enjoyed your company last time. if we were not so serious about those birds, i should have chatted with you, alex and the ladies and i'm sure i would have learned something. i'll post the malkoha shots over the weekend, including some bad ones of a female tarictic hornbill my daughters spotted for me late that afternoon. i hope you and the other masters can help me improve those shots. master romy o, thanks for the welcome too! from the master himself!
to rey s a, glenn g, telyds and alain, thanks! i hope to encourage my other 'bird-brained' friends at the department (of agriculture) to consider joining as well. yes, i've seen don's posts and i hope to see him one of these days, most likely weekends. if you happen to be back in makiling, my mobile is +639175662609.

by the way friends, i also happen to be lead rp negotiator for adaptation in the climate change negotiations which recently met, with disappointing results i should say, in copenhagen. you may also be aware of the creation by law of a climate change commission. i consider us, our kind, to be very important stakeholders in this very important undertaking. if you are interested, either individually o as a group, to contribute and share in the firming up of positions in the climate change negotiations and in the crafting of the national adaptation plan to address the adverse impacts of climate change, just get in touch (llanera72@yahoo.com).
last time i met jun and the others, i was really disappointed with what resulted in copenhagen and i was really a little depressed and contemplating that these wonders we are trying to document will be the very first ones to go, more than the people, once we reach the irreversible tipping point in global warming. so, in a way, personally these birds were always at the back of my mind in those bloody negotiating sessions.
well, let our collective voice be heard!
