This bird has eluded Martin ever since he started bird photography. I would hear countless of cursing and cussing every time he would miss his opportunity. I think it is just fitting for him to be the first person that comes into mind when i got this shot at Candaba with the sun well blocked by the clouds and long shadows casted over the terrain. It was practically night time already. To add salt to his wounds, I gave Martin the honor of post processing this photo. I may even give him a signed print of this image for letting me use his internet connection as I've had faulty internet service for the past few days. Nikon D3 + Nikkor 500mm F4 + TC14eII; F5.6, 1/125s, ISO3200, 700mm, Plain Tina Inc bean bag support taken 5:28 p.m.

Wow that Plain Idol Tina beanbag is pretty awesome for low shots. I still don't have one.

ISO 3200...Nikon's substitute for the sun. I may even give him a signed print of this image for letting me use his internet connection as I've had faulty internet service for the past few days. I don't like picture. I want the actual bird.

REALLY nice JP (and Martin for the pp)! Another unique and very successful take on a bird that has been shot many times before. It's good to be a worm!

Wow..... incredible low angle, you must've dug a fox hole to do this, JP! EDIT: The image is excellent as processed, but I'm curious to process it into another rendition. The melted bottom and sky upper portion might be conducive to the use of a PS graduated density filter, applied both at top and bottom, and with less effect on the center.... it should produce an interesting effect and variation. If ok with you JP and Martin, I'll whip up another version and post the results.
