I had a great time birding in Coron with Tonji, Martin, and JP. We went birding for 3 days. This bird seemed curious about us, it kept coming closer and closer to us while we were looking for Kingfishers. Blue Paradise-Flycatcherf4, iso800, 1/250 This bird was very bold and noisy! I like this picture because it shows the bird's personality. White Vented Shamaf5.6, iso200, 1/60 I was really happy to get a good look at this bird. The last time we were in Coron, it would just fly past us. Oriental Dwarf Kingfisherf4, iso500, 1/25 This is the bird sighting I was MOST excited about!! I didn't think I'd really get to see a Hill Myna. I thought I would have to hike into the mountains to see one. And then, on the last hour of our last bird watching day, this pair showed up! They were really far away, but it was still a thrill to see them. Hill Mynaf4, iso100, 1/500 Of course, I had to post a few of these! These birds were going wild over the balimbing fruit in a backyard. They were very close, and didn't seem to mind us, our cameras, or the laundry being hung nearby! (Tina -- this was the Russell of Coron!) Palawan Flowerpeckerf4.5, iso200, 1/100 f4.5, iso200, 1/160 Canon: 50d, 300mm 2.8, 1.4 tc Manfrotto tripod and gimbal

Wonderful captures in all Sylvia!! Amazing varieties of birds there and all photogenic!! More!! More!! ;D
That's the biggest BPFC I've ever seen!! A little bit level adjustment and it would be perfect on my uncalibrated monitor!!

What an exciting trip it must have been for all of you. All good looking birds. The White Vented Shama is the perfect name for that bird. Well done Sylvia. Mabuhay.

Great harvest, Sylvia. Beautiful. Look at the expression of the Palawan Flowerpecker seeing a bug he is about to eat.

Thanks guys!! Neon, I changed the BPFC pic to a slightly brighter one .. kinda still looks dark? William -- I was also wondering if he was really going to eat that bug. He really looks like he's concentrating on it. Here's another picture of the BPFC that I like a lot because it's looking at me and you can see how blue the bill is. It matches the feathers exactly! It was SO near! Just a bit of cropping on the sides of the photo. f4, iso800, 1/250

Thank you Toto, Edu, Tina and Doc Chito! Tina -- it was easier to go around since we were in a car, instead of a tricycle.

Thanks guys!! Neon, I changed the BPFC pic to a slightly brighter one .. kinda still looks dark? Wow!! Love the head turn on this one!! I guess it's still slightly dark on my monitor. Here is a PP'ed version according to my preference. Sorry, I just grabbed it and worked on the posted jpeg image, will delete it later on. ;D

Hill Mynaf4, iso100, 1/500 Very nice. I have seen only two or three other photos of the Hill Myna in Phils. It has already been recorded on Busuanga. Gracula religiosa palawanensis (a Philippines endemic race).
