I was in Makiling Botanic Garden last Saturday. I got news that there was robbery by the Flat Rocks last week. A group of 7 students were held up by 3 men- cell phones, cash, cameras. BE VERY CAREFUL GUYS. One of the men had a 22 cal.gun. There are many entry points to Makiling. The security cannot man all those entry points. Also, they do not have enough people and firearms to secure the place.
Never, never go alone in areas where there are hardly people passing by, even by the trail.

And to think I went birding alone there. In fact, alone is my preferred birding mode (learned my lesson with the Red Horse experience). I'd probably weep for a week if I got held up and lost all my gear.
I'll have to learn martial arts now.

Ha!! I use to do the trails as well, but that was last year. Guess it would have to stop now, but 7 individuals were not able to deter the robbers how much more two or three? Just have to be careful. Cheers,

I've heard about these robberies since last year. The manong from trees was the one who told me about it.
That's the reason why I never go beyond Trees. I'd rather stay in a place where I know the faces of the people around me.
