Hi Admin Romy and Moderators, I believe Tina asked about this before -- can you please ask the folks at proboards.com if it's possible to use long urls for posting in this forum? My pictures are in smugmug and they did something so that the url of the picture has ALL of this in the url: a) the name of the website b) the name of the gallery c) the name of the sub-category d) the name of the picture e) plus, other additional numbers! I noticed that other forums accept long urls. Would it be possible to increase the limit of this forum? Here's what one of my urls looks like: tonjiandsylviasbirdlist.smugmug.com/The-Bird-List/Lorikeets-Cockatoos-Parrots/Guaiabero/IMG3711/582302248_TRAhR-L.jpgJust wondering if it's possible. Thanks, Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, I've posted an SOS at the Proboards support forum: __________________________________ We are experiencing some issues with embedding photos hosted by Smugmug. When the URL is very long, the photo doesn't show, like the example below:

However, when the URL is shorter, the Smugmug-hosted photo shows, like the one below:

Looking forward to assistance in trouble-shooting the issue. Our forum is:
birdphotoph.proboards.com
Many thanks,
Romy__________________________________ In the meantime, pending solution of the issue by Proboards, I can suggest the following go-arounds: 1. Use shorter gallery names; and/or 2. Avoid multiple sub-sub-galleries for photos to be posted at PBPF.

Thanks Romy! I've been shortening the names of my pictures, but I'm worried that I'll end up repeating the names.

Not so good news, Sylvia. I'll quote the response of one of the Proboards staff: "There is a character break implemented on the forums. This means that after a string of unbroken characters, a space is automatically added. This is the problem you are experiencing as the URL breaks this character limit, and a space is being added to the URL, making the image link incorrect. " See the thread here.... even in the main Proboards forum, long URLs also don't work. support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&thread=336361I'm afraid we don't have much choice except to use the go-arounds I posted earlier.

Thanks again for looking into this. As you pointed out, I can adjust on my end now that I know what the problem is.
