Hi everyone,
Summer is just about over in Ontario, but we now have crisp sunny days to look forward to as the leaves start turning to orange and red. (I don't want to even THINK about winter, though!).
I've been a digital photo enthusiast for several years, having started with a tiny Pentax P&S, then moving up to the Canon 300D Rebel which really opened things up. I got bit by the "L lens bug". Don't know if my photography improved, but my bank account sure shrunk! LOL
Just before last Christmas I acquired my latest dslr - a Canon 5D Mark 2. Initially I wished to use it for landscapes and portraits, keeping my 40D for telephoto shots of birds and other wildlife. I noted Romy's work with bird videography using this camera.....and got bit by the "5D2 video bug" as well!
I love the challenges that still and video photography present me in achieving "the shot", and appreciate how elusive that success can be. I look forward to sharing thoughts, ideas, and techniques with all of you here -- learning lots and hopefully contributing something back as well.
Best regards to all,
Dave Rilstone

Hi Dave, welcome. I actually read "Canada" as "Candaba" and as I read your post, I thought what happened? Is there a Candaba in Ontario when I just got there yesterday? lols! Then I realized I just woke up with all the morning glories and got it all mixed up. This is the effect of this madness I guess. I can still hear the birds chirping. lols. By the way, the great "Candaba" has always been the source of joy of most birdnuts like you out here.

Thanks to each of you for your warm welcome to this forum. Making my way through these threads I am absolutely awed at so many quality photos of native Phillipine birdlife plus those from other parts of the world.
Truly inspirational and motivating!

Welcome to the forum Dave. I am sure you will enjoy your time here. So many informative things that you can learn from the other members who are so willing to share what they know about bird photography etc.
Good luck - you will surely need it for your bank account ;-)

Dave, welcome to PBPF, you'll sure enjoy it here.
What part of Ontario you're from? A member named Ray Barlow is from the Toronto area, he does conduct workshops in the area. You might want to hook up with him (http://www.rayswildlife.com/index.html). We also have members from B.C. and Alberta.
Looking forward to your bird images north of the border.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the link -- I've got it bookmarked!
I live in Kitchener, about an hour down the highway from Toronto. I'll have to revisit Ray's site and check what workshops he may have scheduled.
Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome. ;D

Thanks RD and Canajun for your welcome.
Much as I like the Fall colours that are now starting, when the snow starts falling in a couple of months from now I'll find myself wishing that I was in The Philipines too!
