Hi,
My name is Ariel. I am an engineer by profession and is based here in Costa Rica.
I am new in photography and got hooked into it after I moved here more than two years ago. Costa Rica is a very nice place to do bird watching and photography because you do not need to go very far just to see nice birds such as Toucans, periquos, scarlet macaws and the rare Resplendant Quetzals.
However when I saw some of the members' pictures here, I realized that our bird species are comparable to here. I've seen nice pictures and my intention is to learn from you guys and also to share my experience living here.
Thanks for accepting me as member of this forum.
Sincerely, Ariel

Welcome to the forum, Ariel. Looking forward to your postings of the lovely and colorful birds there.
My wife and I are planning to visit Costa Rica for some bird watching/photography sometime next year.

Welcome aboard.
I heard that it's even cheaper to vacation there rather than Mexico ;D Which part of the country are you stationed? Must be nice to have both the Pacific and Atlantic at your disposal at an arms reach.
Cheers! Jun

Sincerely, Ariel A warm welcome to another Filipino engineer in the forum! Yes, there is no place like our dear Philippines. We just have to learn how to take care of our country. The first step is to make our people aware - birdwatching/bird photography is one big step to build awareness among the young and old. Costa Rica... just the mention of it sounds the flutter of butterfly wings. I hope you are doing macro photography, too. I know for a fact that in Costa Rica, the diversity and density of butterflies in the wild (plus the swarms of mosquitoes ) are incomparable to other places. I look forward to your photos... there's a thread here titled Other Nature Images- For Ate Lyds... that's where you post the butterfly photos . Welcome Ariel!

Yes po there are lots of butterflies and butterfly farms here in Costa Rica. In fact I just had a photo trip in one of the butterfly parks here last week. I do shoot macro and I do own a Canon 100mm Macro USM lens.
Sure, I will share some of my photos here soon. Meanwhile, I will also try to enjoy other's works as it is one of the best ways to learn.
Thank you po sa lahat for the warm welcome.
