You want to breathe real fresh air and be rejuvenated? Here's the place. This is the cottage of the owner of BK Valley. Right side is slope of Mt. Banahaw. This is where I usually sleep when I am there. Yep no walls, only windows. Bird calls, cicadas, tree crabs will lull you to sleep and wake you up, too. Entrance to the cottage and Side of the cottage where one can watch the mixed flocks. Front of cottage Back of the cottage. Left side of the camping ground is birding area.

To get there. Dolores, Quezon is after San Pablo/Tiaong. You drive towards Lucena. After the Ambray School, Meralco plant (left side) and Maxs right side (those are the landmarks I saw), you will see a small sign on the left that says to Dolores - Bato Springs. Take that road all the way to the end until you are confused... ask people how to get to Kinabuhayan. when you have reached Kinabuhayan, you will see a vegetable store where you can park. Owner is the brother-in-law of Dion Pullan, the owner of BK Valley. You can drive up the 2.5km rough trail if you have a 4WD or you can pre-arrange for Dion to fetch you with his Hummer. Any further questions, please pm me. telyds

Ok I see birding gear, the Swaro scope, but I also see a golf bag and saddles. Oh man, a birding, golf and horseback riding adventure. Gotta go here.

He, he, Tonji. The golf clubs are probably for show now. When Dion, the owner, was clearing some forest ground cover, I strongly said Ah-ah, that he can't do that because the butterflies will not have any more habitat. Carmela and I have been trying to convince him to allow us to set up our huts in his driving range... he, he. Horseback riding, that you can do. See, it is not foreign to the place. Go, go... before the typhoons come. telyds

Telyds, it's quite a place not only for nature and birding but also a retreat. May I ask how much a place like this would set me back?

Right now I am helping the owners fix the rates. If you look closely, the cottage has no walls, just rails. The bathroom is the only place to change. There is a mezannine, very close to the ceiling that can accomodate 2 people. The place is not good during rainiy season, though I have enjoyed the rain so much in Mt. Banahaw. The charge for a cottage is P1,600.00. A bit pricey for very limited amenities. There's electricity (low power), no heater- but I love cold showers. It is a wonder why one does not get chilly after a cold shower. Yes, it is a good place for a retreat. It is my Mt. Horeb, where I remove my sandals and be in awe. When you see me I'm glowing! Probably when you come, the facilities and the rates will be better. telyd
