Love the colors and bokeh of that shot, Nestor! Ate Lyds seems so silent, let's cheer her up with more Falconet food...er.... butterflies... ;D ;D ;D As an expert on butterflies, let me confirm to newbies that this is a Lamproptera meges decius (Papilionidae group), also called a Dragontail butterfly... {Psst... Steve and Ate Lyds....ssssh.... don't tell anybody that you posted these info in my galleries.... }

Love them butterflies! Took a while to reply because I could not find the reply button. Thanks Ka Romy. Yeah, I was not signed in that's why ;D . Thanks Nestor for the nice Appias shot. Ka Romy, there were about a thousand of L. Meges flying free in Subic. I was not bringing my wide angle macro lens. Cheerping, te lyd

Hi Tina, This is the one from Palay-palay I photographed exactly a year ago. This one is the Cheritra orpheus. See the difference? Please send via email a low res so I can inquire from James what kind you have. I suspect it is the Ritra aurea. In the Japanese list of Philippine Lycaenids, it says it is from Borneo. www.asahi-net.or.jp/~EY4Y-TKNM/philframe.htmlCheck the link and put a bookmark. telyd

Whoa! Thank you Doc. William. That one is mentioned in the book I am finishing as my favorite garden butterfly. It is the Danaus chrysippus (Nymphalid Family). It is the local version of the Monarch butterfly. Its larvae feed on the toxic milkweed plant. There are a lot of this plant around Festival Mall by the parking lot. If only the ground administrator of the mall does not order spraying of the trees, there should be a lot of this butterfly fluttering around Ayala Alabang. Was this taken in a netted garden? Btw. I will send you invitation to the paro-parozzi yahoo groups. Please send this photo again so I can feature it. Thank you again and again. telyd

Hello William, I guess that is similar to a butterfly that I photographed from our garden. A Leptosia species

Thanks William. Eric, that's the winning photo, right? It is a real beauty. Great capture. Everytime I see a Leptosia butterfly in my garden, your photo has become my standard. I have not gotten anything close to it yet. You wait, the butterfly is jsut here around everyday. This is one butterfly that you don't see inside cages. No need to cage. They are always around. Larvae feed on a kind of wild plant.

Ate Lyds, here is another butterfly that I believe no one has asked you about. They are tiny butterflies no bigger than my pinkie fingernails. At first I thought they were moths but the antennae suggests otherwise. What species of butterfly is this please?
