I'm most DEFINITELY addicted to the Sierra Madre Mountains ;D
This visit was very different from the first visit mainly because it wasn't raining at all so instead of it becoming a half day birding affair, we were given the whole day to go birding. Hooorayyy for us but super tiring naman.
The dust.... MANNNNNN was it D-U-S-T-Y !!! Because it wasn't raining and it was a dirt road that's good for a tricycle & a car in most areas, when the vehicles pass by ... You are in for a treat - FREE foundation (thick foundation) for your face and everything else that was exposed PLUS you car turns into a different color from all the dust in the area ;D ;D ;D
I didn't see most of the birds that Sylvia & Tonji saw because most of the time, I was in another area concentrating on some other bird and trying to get good captures of them.
Sad thing about this trip was that I heard a lot chain saws and big trees falling. Sylvia went inside one of the trails and discovered that a lot trees on the inner part of the forest are gone
Mangrove Blue Flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra blythi) Endemic race
40D + 400mm 5.6 ; 1/160 ; ISO 640 ; f/8 ; tripod
Yellowish White-eye (Zosterops nigrorum) Philippine endemic
40D + 400mm 5.6 ; 1/250 ; ISO 500 ; f/6.3 ; tripod
This last photo may not be a picture perfect photo but this is one of the very few times wherein I had to almost crawl on the ground, go through bushes, lean on rocks, put up with all the insects and thorny twigs under the heat of the sun pa. I am extremely happy with this picture because to those of you who have tried taking a picture of this bird, I'm sure you know how hard it is to get even a decent photo of it.
White-browed Shama (Copsychus luzoniensis) Philippine endemic
40D + 400mm 5.6 ; 1/100 ; ISO 1000 ; f/5.6 ; hand held
