Hi everybody, I am Eric Vergara. Born in one of the smallest town in Ilocos Sur. I am relatively new in bird photography and basically I am just a snap shooter. At least thats what I used to do when my kids were still kids. Now they have there own kids.
This hobby is addictive and getting expensive. It also gets me in constant trouble with the wife because I am usually out there taking pictures instead of doing her to do list at home. That list is growing and becoming a booklet.
Do I need to have a web page to post a picture? I do not have one. Thanks.
Eric

Hey Eric, welcome to PBPF. Glad to see another Californian, and closer to Sac. (my grannies were from Ilocos Sur too, Magsingal (sp?), Vigan, Santa Catalina ...) So, how did you find this forum if I may ask?
Yup, this hobby can get expensive, and demanding a lot of your time. It's a matter of control. It's fun though (I'm sure you know about that). ;D There's a lot of birdnuts and masters in this forum to learn from, all of them nice.
You don't need to have your own web page so you can post pictures. Your other options are: 1. Paid image hosting (like pbase, smugmug, etc.) 2. Free image hosting (like Flickr, Photobucket, etc.) 3. Others. As long as it's hosted in a server somewhere else, you can then post a link in your posts.
So, welcome again, and looking forward to your wild bird images.

I think Scott Kelby wrote on one of his books says be prepared to miss a lot of breakfast and dinners. ;D Regarding your wife's lists. Just tell her that you started your own checklist called Lifers lists....then duck!!!! (sorry for the pun) There's a lot of birdnuts and masters in this forum to learn from, all of them nice. There are a lot of good people here. As well as very dedicated to the preservation of our birds. If I may add to paid image hosting. There are shared hosting out there that are free of ad pop-ups for as little as $4.97/mo (3yr term). Looking forward to your posts. Jun

Welcome to PBPF, Eric! Yes, you need to host your images somewhere else, as our forum has no uploading feature. I use www.flickr.com (free) and www.pbase.com (paid).

Thank you for the welcome Teddy. I was lurking in DPReview/Minolta Forum one day when one of the posters posted Romy's Pbase web page. I clicked on it and was treated with the most amazing images of birds from the Philippines and the photographer is a Pinoy and Ilokano too. His images are the best I've ever seen. I've been lurking here for a month now so I am aware of the birdnuts and their eye catching images.

Thank you Jun and Romy for the warm welcome. I'll check out flickr. I have never posted a picture before except email. Hopefully, flickr's guidelines are easy to follow.

Hi Eric! I'm from South SF, too in the Westborough area. I haven't been to the forum since last year and its good to see another kababayan in my neck of the woods. Just came from Baylands today and visited Bolsa Chica last week while on a business trip. I met Bob K. and Cynthia from Pasadena who met up with me in Bolsa Chica. Bob is also part of this forum. Welcome!

Thanks Eric and Voltaire. Hey Voltaire you are not too far from me. I live two blocks from Gellert. King and Reston Ct. I went there, Baylands, last Saturday. The BCNH are back! The Snowy Egrets are also back in Redwood Shores and Radio Rd. Most weekends I am in these two locations. Maybe we can go there together one weekend. Email me.
