Great set Ted! you surely do capture great sharp images with your 300+1.4tc combo. Maybe i should use my 70-300vr+1.4tc more often... i'll try shooting more with that combo and maybe get sharper images.. JV, The AFS 70-300 VR is really a good lens. But from what I heard, a little soft at the long end escpecially with a TC. If you can avoid 300, and then just crop, you might get better results. You have to test this yourself though. The AFS 300 f/4 is really a very very good lens, especially for it's price. But it's a challenging lens. It demands a sound technique to get the best out of it. It's prone to vibrations, and it's not really fast (f/4). I'm still getting soft images most of the time (just look at some of my posts). So, I'm still practicing and improving the support system if I can. If I want to be successful at this, I better improve myself first rather than jumping to the more expensive glass that i can't afford in the first place. ;D All the best.

brilliant shots, I have a question, what do you think about a nikon 70-300G non vr or a 70-210 f4-5.6 with a 2x teleconverter?
