Saw a similar facility at Potter's Marsh on our drive from Seward to Anchorage on our recent Alaskan adventure. Just stayed about 10mins, I'd have wanted to stay longer but my passengers kept yelling "Are we there yet."
I hope we can do something like that at the Hardin.
Hey, PropJerry, maybe we can hold a fundraising exhibit to build catwalks and a blind!

Nice shoots Manny, I'll take some photos of the trails near the airport where I bird here in Darwin to get some idea on how they make the birding trails here as well. (for id please) not sure if it was laying eggs.... A Killdeer ( Charadrius vociferus) here's a reference shot

Like what Neon said, it's a killdeer.
They build their nests on rocky grounds usually. They're noisy, and calls are very distinctive. I still need to get a good capture of it.
Looks like a very interesting place. We'll be in the San Jose area next month, to attend a Pangilenean (from Pangil, Laguna) picnic. Then we'll stay and visit at Palo Alto the next day, we might roam around Stanford University as I've never been there. My wife said we'll scout our daughter's future school (we can only wish, hehehe).
Guides and trails are pretty common in parks and preserves, quite neat.
Thanks for sharing your photos.

Looks like a killdeer indeed and it seems that you are near its nest because it looks like it was doing its "broken-wing" act.

That is so good to hear, Manny. I hope we get to have something like that in Canlubang. I remember growing up there riding bikes with childhood friends around the hacienda. After seeing the pictures, I suddenly thought it would not be a bad idea to visit my childhood friend in Palo Alto. I've shared this link with WBCP. I hope Mayor Pelayo gets to see your photos as well. for sharing lyd
