These are the first photos (I think) of this bird in the wild. Taken last Dec. 7, 2007 at my Father's farm in Tawan-tawan, Mlang, North Cotabato in Mindanao. The race davao ranges in Camiguin Sur and Mindanao. Thanks to Sir Steve Pryor for the ID. Pygmy Flowerpecker (Dicaeum pygmaeum davao) Cheers, Neon

Thanks Master Romy!!! Had a difficult time capturing this bird as it constantly move from well lit and shaded perches. I took out my 2x TC to get the 300mm f4 IS lens to AF much faster. With the 2x TC it was searching all the time in the shade. Was lucky to properly expose a few shots.

There you go Neon - people are signing up to go to your dad's place in Davao ;D OT: HehHEehEHehEHehe Romy - invisible man !!!! My rufous coucal and white morph coucal are both invisible. They are both professionals when it comes to hiding Seriously .... will have to TRY to process both pictures in a nicer way (using both the Romy Ocon and Neon2Rosell way of PP).

Romy & Tina, If you can manage with basic necessities then we could stay in My Dad's House and use it as a base camp..he he he, if he will agree !!. It's also an hours drive to the foot of Mt. Apo in Kidapawan City. Cheers, Neon

Neon, Romy, To give you all available relevant info for the D. proprium:
DISTRIBUTION: Endemic to Mindanao, Philippines. Recorded on Mt. Mayo, Mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Matutum, Mt. Piapayungan, Mt. Sugarloaf and Mt. Apo and at Lake Sebu and Mainit, Manticao.
HABITAT: Uncommon above 900 m. amongst flowering and fruiting trees in forest, forest edge and secondary growth.
STATUS: A rare and little known species once considered to be globally threatened by habitat destruction and classified as Vulnerable (Collar et al. 1994), now downlisted to near-threatened (Collar et al. 1999). Restricted to forest, forest edge and secondary growth above 900 m. on Mindanao, where it is uncommon to locally common. No recent records except Mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Apo and Sitio Siete near Lake Sebu in South Cotabato province.
FOOD: Presumably includes fruit, and possibly also nectar and/or pollen, of mistletoes Loranthaceae.
