Nice to go birding in Monterey Manny. Just drive along the coast and you are made. Just park your car along the road and you are sure to get lots of BIF's - Along this area alone, you are sure to get more than a dozen species. Wonderful views pa !!! This is the most important tip of all : You must NOT miss the best clam chowder everrrrrrrr at the old fisherman's wharf - try the one at the restaurant called Old Fisherman's Grotto <-- this is to DIE FOR - Wency and I always make it a point to go to Monterey whenever we are in CA just to have this - HEhHEhHHEhHEheHEheE. It's cheaper to just order take out and buy sourdough bread with it. YUM YUM YUM Added: Found this just now and looks like a pretty interesting place in Palo Alto Manny... Palo Alto Baylands

In Monterey, we birded mostly at the 17 mile drive area but followed the road along the coast only. We stayed somewhere near the coast at the Pacific Grove area. They even have deers roaming around the area - you see them early in the morning or late afternoons Excited na to see your pictures. Have never stayed or birded at the area where you are planning to stay.

Ah the 17-mile drive or so ... did that once too. Tina, are you sure you're not thinking about some "birdies" and "eagles" Manny, for sure, you'll see lots of western gulls and seals or sea lions. If you're lucky, there might be some pelicans. Down south, like the L.A. down to San Diego, pelicans are common.

Nice gallery.
The hummingbirds are Anna's. And yes, some ducks look like woodducks. And it looks like you've got one Northern mockingbird there (not sure). I like the phoebe.
Starling is not a welcome species here. Birders think they're not suppose to be here (an introduced species way back then).
Scrub jay, Anna's, sparrows, mourning doves, and finches are regulars in my backyard. There used to be a regular mockingbird too, 2 yrs.ago and last year. I'm still waiting for them this year. I've seen some, but they don't stay as much as the prvious years. I miss the calls, especially in the morning (they're like alarm clocks on weekends for us). I've seen titmouse too, not a regular on my feeder. Bush tits once ... I don't have lots of bushy plants, so maybe don't like hanging out.
