Greetings from Sacramento, CA!
Not a Philippine birder ... but a (new) Sacramento birder born in the Philippines! (pwede na rin)
Like I mentioned, am a new birder, and still learning with my gears and techniques.
I'm a long time DPR member, since 2000. It's where I found out that we have this kababayan famous for birding. Since I don't shoot Canon, I never heard of Ka Romy who hangs out at the Canon forums.
I've been a Sony P&S user for a long time (and Nikon SLR before that), and my first dslr is a Nikon D300. Looks like most of you have Canons, any Nikon shooters here?
I really enjoyed looking at the images of Philippine birds being posted here. It's amazing to know that our country is a resident for these exotic species, something I've taken for granted growing up.
Looking forward to some replies from my fellow kababayans.
~ Ted

Welcome aboard, Ted! There are many Nikon guys here - JP, Ray Barlow of Canada, Martin, Manny, TJ, Ka Rene and others. The number might increase once the prices of the 600 and 500 VR get lower.

Yes, I'm familiar with Ray (and his bird pictures), in fact I saw a link of your pbase site from his website. Thanks for the warm reception. Is it really ok to post images of California birds in this forum? I have some, but not as great as yours (and others). As I'm still learning how to post process them (they are all currently in RAW).

Post away, Ted! We welcome any wild bird photo from anywhere. ;D PS - It'd be nice if you can also post shooting details with each photo. Hey Bob, wow a fellow Californian. I was able to capture an image of a California quail a few weeks ago when I was at Newport Coast. Not that good, it's handheld and I didn't have enough reach (300/4+TC1.4).
By the way, I'm just a new birder, and I only take pictures whenever I have a free weekend. I usually join a local Audubon morning walks, just to find where the birds are. They're very good at ID'ing birds (everyone has binoculars, a must), and they can ID a bird by just listening to the calls, amazing.
I'll post my early captures later.
