Truly rare capture. Rarer still, they are mating. Congratulations!!! Question for everyone: Does this photograph of the mating pair mean that the birds breed here (Why are they, therefore, rare?)?

Very nice and interesting shots. It is always good to see birds doing other things than posing. Well done Bong. Mabuhay.

Wow!! Agree with JP, I think they are crested goshawk too. First time to see that they are dimorphic! Even the KG says the "sexes are similar". "Nest and eggs not described from the Philippines"

JP and Neon, thank you for the correction. I already made the adjustment. I checked the photos of the crested goshawk on the net and they're similar to these photos. @ Romy & profjerry - the mating shot was just a lucky shot. My guide first saw the male when it landed on a nearby branch. I was preparing to take a video footage hoping to capture both of them, when suddenly the male darted from the front and landed on top to mate. It was finish in a couple of seconds. No time to enable liveview. I just took one shot. @ Ely - Thanks. I hope you get this bird too. @ Mark - Thanks Mark.

Great photos of this bird! The mating pic is fantastic.
JP, Martin, Sylvia and I also saw Goshawks in our last trip to Coron. We saw two Goshawks but not together. We did see their nest though. Its good to see them doing well. When we were there a kid was aiming his slingshot at a Goshawk. Yikes.

Thank you Tonji & Edu! Tonji, Erwin also showed me the nest. it's located just across where I got the goshawks. I heard you really had an adventure in Coron. He also told me that he had warned people not to harm the birds, even the kids who just carrying a slingshot. Edu, it was really a lucky shot since I did not even look at the viewfinder when I took it, just hoping to get a snapshot of them mating!
