I was not able to see the Indigo Banded King Fishers but was contented to take some pictures of the birds that frequent the waterfall. The birds were very active, frisky, and under the unlighted canopy. At ISO 3200 I would consider the noise tolerable. Perhaps next time the IBKF will be visible. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, Wimberley WH200 head. Manual exposure in available light. Black-naped Monarch (Hypothymis azurea) 1/320 sec., f/5.6, ISO 3200 Black-naped Monarch (Hypothymis azurea) 1/320 sec., f/5.6, ISO 3200 Mangrove Blue-flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra) 1/80 sec., f/5.6, ISO 3200 Mangrove Blue-flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra) 1/80 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 Philippine Bulbul (Hypsipetes philippinus) 1/100 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600 Philippine Bulbul (Hypsipetes philippinus) 1/100 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600

A pleasure to see such a good series of shots Thank you Mick. I hope you will have a chance to see this place the next time you visit the Philippines. Its a resort place with a nice waterfall that you can have lunch there with the water running underneath your feet.

Stunning images under difficult lighting conditions. Well done, Ely! Thank you Ariel. I dare to say that the Canon 1D Mark IV is superior when it comes to situation like this. I don't think it would have come out like this if I were to use something else.

Nice series Ely T, I like #2 Monarch, beautiful color and good shot. Thank you Tateo. The Monarch hardly keeps still but the challenge of getting him on your CF card is always there because of its beautiful feathers.
