Hello everyone, Just got back from a bird imaging trip at Mt. Kitanglad. It was raining everyday but we managed to get some decent shots of the birds in the area (see below). I was expecting a really rough terrain but I'm glad I was able to carry my rig mounted on the tripod for the long daily walk to the birding sites despite the incessant rains which made the trails muddy/slippery. I'll be adding photos taken during the trip in this page soon. Thanks for viewing. Note: Many thanks to Mark Jason Villa who arranged the paperwork and logistics of the trip. Mark Jason is an excellent birding guide who knows his birds well in the field. Wow! Awesome captures of the Phil Frogmouth, Nilo!! Can't wait to see the rest, from your 5 day sortie!! What light source did you use to illuminate the bird? Noticed the iris is pretty small already and won't be achieved if a flash was used. This is a great way to capture nocturnal species!!

Wow, love this! It looks like it was posing for you. Wonderful shots of this bird. I like the poses in the 2nd and 3rd shots best. Great expression on the face of the bird!

Thanks Raul, Rey, Edu, Sylvia, William, Alain and Mark. I'm happy that finally I was able to document this nocturnal bird. @ely, I'm not using flash and these photos of the Frogmouth was captured with light sources used by my companion birdwatchers. @neon, I was with a group of birders using their headlamp/flashlight for visual observation. I have to compensate for this and adjust WB accordingly. Great shots, Nilo! That Sulphur-billed Nuthatch is a bit difficult to capture judging from the shots. I hope you post more photos from this trip!
