The Silvery Kingfisher (Alcedo argentata) is a Philippine endemic. It is threatened by habitat loss according to Wikipedia. I have been wanting to see this bird for some time as I have seen it in pictures but never in the wild. We were able to see and photographed the bird on our first day after a long morning session. This was on our way home and we stopped at the 321 Quarry Road right besides the river. It was a sight to see it for the first time and I kept on muttering to myself "Kingfisher" please don't fly away. Now I know that not only has it got black and silvery feathers on the back but the chest has blue amd white colors. I heaved a sigh of relief when I was finally able to photograph this beautiful endemic bird for the first time. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM. Canon TC 1.4X. Gitzo GT3530LS Tripod, Wimberley WH200 Head. Manual exposure in available light. f/8, ISO 800, 1/80 sec. f.8, ISO 800, 1/100 sec. f/8, ISO 800, 1/100 sec. f/8, ISO 800, 1/100 sec.

Beautiful pictures, kuya Ely of one of my favourite birds. I used to see this bird often near the village where I worked in Mindanao, but I never had a good long focus lens then, so never got any very good pictures. Well done.
