Wowoowwwww!!!! Amazing shots, Ely ...great use of DOF on the Guaiabero! As regards the following bird, I don't think the YBFC ranges in the Philippines. It looks to me like a Pygmy Flowerpecker instead, a great shot of this tiny endemic. Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Empidonax flaviventris ISO 1600, 1/200, f11

I have a real appreciation of it especially after having to use a shorter lens. Thank you for the heads up, I have modified the thread to correct the name. I did not know that its a Philippine endemic. Its a lifer for me. Salamat po. (Thank you) Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Empidonax flaviventris ISO 1600, 1/200, f11

Incredible incredible set sir ely!!!! So incredible it got me out of lurk mode! Congrats! Thank you thank you Edu. I am much happier with the 800 than the 70-200mm. It gives you a longer range and a sharper picture.

Wonderful set Ely. The giant Guaiabero is super sharp despite the slow shutter speed.

Wonderful set Ely. The giant Guaiabero is super sharp despite the slow shutter speed. Thank you Rey. I am threading on dangerous water at such low speed. I was not able to freeze the wings of the Pygmy Flowerpecker. I like the pictures with a higher depth of field. I think increasing the ISO will not harm the IQ. So next time will be testing time again.

Thank you thank you Edu. I am much happier with the 800 than the 70-200mm. It gives you a longer range and a sharper picture. And it looks like you can really swing that 800 around like a 400! Those flowerpeckers and OBSs are NOT easy to follow around! I can only imagine chasing these skittish fellows with an 800.. wow. A congratulations is in order. Congrats sir!

Wow!! These are superb captures, Ely!! ;D you turn pygmy birds into giants with that lens!! Love the male giant pygmy FP ;D Thank you Neon. Since I started taking bird pictures last February, I have always wanted them to look as good as the way you take them. I have placed the pictures that you took in a separate file and used them as my goal in terms of IQ. I remember you telling me that I have to take 10,000 of pictures to achieve them. I have exceeded that number and I am still hoping to reach my goal. Mabuhay.

Thank you Elvin, Adri, & Toto. I was very fortunate to have taken those pictures at the right moment and at the right setting. It is really good to be back home and take pictures of birds that are in our Country. Mabuhay.

Thank you Tonji. I really think you should go. With you keen eye and bird instinct you should be able to capture a lot of variety of birds. I thought one of the birds was a Yellow Bellied Flyeater until Romy pointed it out to me that it is a Pygmy Flycatcher. Its a lifer for me and I learned something new again.

Ganda Ely! I like the Guiabero and the Olive-backed Sunbird! Congrats and its good you're shooting pinoy birds again! The Guaiabero was a moment in time. All of a sudden it landed on the tree and started to look around and preen itself. It did not stay very long but gave me several good shots. Thank you Mr. Guaiabero for posing. Heh heh heh.

Length really matters. We're talking about focal length. You can see the difference between a 200 and an 800. All great captures, Ely! The Guaiabero deserves to be hang on the wall. Frame it. Congrats! Nice to be back shooting Philippine birds, eh.
