This is a special request. I will be needing ASAP photos of birds feeding on fruits on a tree- tree should be identifiable. I will need it for an article I am submitting for the Souvenir Program of the Asian Bird Festival. Preference will be trees like ratiles, bignay, tibig, balete, guava, duhat, My article is about birds that disperse seeds- source of wildings. I need about 3 only. Anyone who can contribute? Thanks in advance. telyds Please post on this thread to see if I can id the tree.

Hi Ate Lyds,
I don't have a good photo, but I remember there was a great one that kuya Ely posted a while ago of a black naped oriole with what looked like balete fruit in its mouth. Maybe he would let you use that one.
Blessings Brian

BTW folks, if we're talking of seed dispersal, the bird must be large enough and the seed small enough for swallowing, and eventual dispersal via the bird droppings.

You have a good memory Brian for remembering this particular picture. When I saw this thread I was thinking of something to contribute but could not think on a bird on a fruiting tree. But I do remember that I have birds with food on their beak not remembering that there were also birds that is on a fruiting tree. Heh heh heh. So Lyds, thanks to Brian here is a picture that you may be able to use if you wish to. Cheers & Mabuhay.

Here is another one that will give you a lot of pictures to choose from. Unfortunately I do not know the name of this fruit tree. Perhaps Prop Jerry can come to the rescue.

Oh, wow! I may decide to come up with a separate flyer or power point presentation for these birds and fruit trees. Anyone on ratiles tree, or duhat? I remember there were a lot of you who took photos of the Philippine Dove at Ding's place- Neon has, but I prefer one with a fruit on its beak or pecking at the fruit. That tree is the Macarangga, a very good tree for reforestation. Let me check on the ID's of these trees and I will post it here. Oh, this has become a great thread! These photos are your great contribution for the NURSING TREES SEEDLING BANK fund raising campaign. Dig up your files, guys! Keep them coming!
