Wild Birds of the Philippines
There are about 614 species of Philippine birds, and 194 of these are endemic to our islands. Over 10% of these species are globally threatened.
By imaging these magnificent winged creatures in their natural habitat and sharing the pictures and footages through the web, we hope that in our own little way we can help raise awareness for the protection of their habitat.
We wish that the children of our children will still be able to behold their beauty long after our generation is gone.
PBPF hosts the searchable, most complete online Photo-Guide to the Birds of the Philippines. A work in progress, all photos were taken by PBPF photographers in-habitat. Species represented - 489 out of 614 as of January 2, 2010.

Grey-headed Lapwing???? « Thread Started on Oct 30, 2009, 8:26pm »
Neon and I were birding at San Juan, Batangas on October 30, 2009 when this strange bird flew past. I managed to grab a poor capture, and it looks like it could be Grey-headed Lapwing (Vanellus cinereus) - the features and size described in the Kennedy Guide seem to match.

What a comeback Ka Mastah! At the eve of the howler typhoon, you and Neon braved Batangas. Nuts, certified, blue blooded nuts! Well, witches love riding against strong winds. Yeah, there are male witches. Your adventure paid off. Congratulations.
By the way, at the height of the typhoon this morning, I was watching 2 Egrets flying back and forth, not sure if they were troubled by the strong wind or if they were enjoying it. There were trees but they chose to fly instead of perch for safety. They were here in San Juan, Erap county not Ka Intsek's. No, they were not witches. telyds

Wow!! I saw it but could not aim my rig cause I was busy doing some testing with high ISO on the 7D. Ka Intsek saw it to and told us that there was a different looking bird that he saw flying and landed in another part of the fishponds. This is worth hunting as there are only three recorded sightings before this, second record here in Luzon (1st in Malabon Jan. 20 1906) the other two were in Batan Is, 1981.
This photo should be the first ever in the Philippines!!
